Works rather good for the flies that it attracts. But that leaves a lot of other flies buzzing around and causing problems. Not all flies are the same, regardless of looks.

Just Horsin' Around Farm from Harnett County, NC
We use a combination of these Fly abatement strips and fly predators. Sometimes the flies get a head start on the farm before the predators start making a difference, so we put one of these in our barn and one in the tack room. I keep them in a bucket so that the cat's can't get to them. It also makes cleaning up the dead flies a breeze. I hate biting flies and as soon as I put these out, the flies start getting killed. They die almost instantly.
I do recommend using the fly predators too. If you want to have a fly free environment for you and your horses, the combination of the two will knock them out! Our other horse friends always comment on how we have no flies. We didn't buy any fly sprays last year!

This is by far the best fly killing product EVER!!! I have never seen a product work so fast, on the down side, do not let rain get near it - the top will start to peel off which is what kills the flies, we spent over $40 on these a few years ago and the very next day the rain blew into our barn and they were worthless. Other than not getting them wet, they are excellent, I think the price is a little too high personally... but worth the money to get rid of flies.

I've been a farrier for over 30 years, and here in Texas flies are beyond a nuisance, they make doing my work almost impossible as no horse can stand still while flies are biting. To make matters worse I am highly sensitive to fly sprays and will not work on horses that have been sprayed due to experiencing unpleasant effects from even getting the stuff on my skin that often last for weeks. I know how toxic pesticides can be and the long term effect on the nervous system and cancer risk mean that I'd rather wrestle with every horse than let the owner spray them. I have tried many non toxic and homemade sprays non of which work.
Recently I was working at a barn and the owner brought out a quikstrike. Immediately the flies ignored the horses and the poop, they were ALL on the Quiksrike and dying. In just 2 hours we filled a dustpan with dead flies! Unlike the regular flytraps which stink and bring in more flies from miles around, quikstrike has barely any smell so it only attracts the flies in your barn and really reduces the population quickly. It works best on the ground, but I suggest placing it in a bucket with a 1/4 or 1/2" mesh over the top to contain the dead flies, especially if you have chickens which might eat them.
I am recommending this product to all my customers. Finally something that really works and just kills the flies and not us.

We are located in SW Florida a smaller 8 stall barn on 5 acres, Flies are a big pest during two to three month a year, I have a fly spray system, a super clean barn, (but neighbors that generate flies) and the very very best product ever is quik strike, easy to use, kills flies and you see the results (which is not that pleasant)
IT WORKS !!!
