Directions for Use:
Shake well before using. To protect horses from horse flies, house flies, stable flies, face flies, horn flies, deer flies, gnats, mosquitoes, lice and deer ticks that may transmit Lyme disease, thoroughly brush the horse's coat prior to application to remove loose dirt and debris. For dirty horses, shampoo and rinse thoroughly. Wait until coat is completely dry before applying.
Tri-Tec may be applied either as a spray or as a wipe. For horse's face, always apply as a wipe using a piece of clean absorbent cloth, toweling (Turkish) or sponge. Wear rubber glove or mitt when applying as a wipe. Spray or wipe horse's entire body while brushing against the lay of the coat to ensure adequate coverage. Avoid getting spray into horse's eyes, nose or mouth. Application should be liberal for best residual results. Reapply every 5 to 7 days under normal conditions for initial applications. As protection builds, reapply every 10 to 14 days as needed. Also, reapply each time animal is washed or is exposed to heavy rain.

southern summer from wnc

The only stuff I've tried that works even remotely. 1-2 days! We have swarms of gnats and masks plus this spray keep our babies happy! Horse.com has the best price by far. I buy the gallon refill. Thanks!

The best fly spray I've ever used, 9/1/2012

L8oper8r from Thurman, IA

I've tried them all and have had the best results from this one. Perhaps the people who have problems with this aren't shaking the jug/bottle well enough each time they apply it. I have found that if you read and follow the instructions and initially WIPE a heavy application, the results are excellent. It hasn't lasted 14 days, but it has lasted 7 days per application. I've used it for years and will continue to do so.

Extreme Hair Loss, 7/23/2012

Kim from Federal Way, WA

I used tri-tec a handful of times and after a hot ride, I noticed that my horse's hair was falling out (face, chest, belly) and developed hives.

Pretty good, 6/25/2012

Meaghan from Sears, MI

This fly spray smells nice and does a decent job on fly repellant for short term. It doesn't last a day let alone 14, but it's good for a quick ride or giving your horse a little relief. Little pricey for fly spray, but they are all different. More cost doesn't always mean a better product.

*LOVE* This product, 4/22/2012

Kaylie from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Living on the coast of South Carolina, where swamps are plentiful, so are mosquitoes. Tri-Tec protects my horses against them. Two of my horses are also allergic to gnats (which is why I switched to Tri-Tec.) Tri-Tec does a great job of protecting them from gnats and does not damage their skin.

Farnam Tri-Tec , 4/17/2012

Ryder from Tidewater, Virginia

I tried several other name brand expensive fly sprays, but in my opinion is the best, I buy the gallon refill. It's water based and doesn't cause dirt to stick to the coat. Sunscreen protection against bleach-out is important for my palomino. I have not found it to be effective more than 1 day during the humid summer months. My horse recognizes the spray bottle and will stand still in the pasture without being tied while I apply it.

bleaches my black horse, 10/18/2010

Wendy P from Ithaca, NY

I've used Tri Tech 14 for several years and been very happy with it. However, I have a new black horse. I sprayed her belly with it when the black flies first came out this spring, and the next day I brought her in and she had reddish brown circles under her belly and sides. Since it was under her belly, I can't blame the sun. I've learned that black hair pigment--eumelanin--is broken down more quickly by acids than red hair pigment--phaeomelanin. Do you have another product that won't bleach my black horse?
